You can download the Roku app on your phone and there is an option for private listening. The icon looks like headphones. Then plug the headphones in to your phone.

The Roku Streaming Stick + Headphone Edition does come with a remote that supports private listening. However you can use the private listening feature on your Roku Streaming Stick + with the Roku Mobile app available for free on iOS and Android. Private listening is a feature of the Roku mobile app that allows you to listen to the audio from streaming channels and live digital broadcast television on the earbuds, earphones, or headphones connected to your phone or tablet. Please note that in order to establish this connection, both your mobile device and your Roku device must be connected to the same wireless network.
