If you buy the Roku Ultra, you will not need to purchase a stick. However, you will need to have an HDMI cable (or buy a new one) because the Roku Ultra does not come with an HDMI cable included among the contents in the box. As far as what you'll need for the Roku Ultra to function, all that is required is a free (i.e. spare/unused) HDMI port on your TV and an internet connection... although you will need to setup an account on the Roku website, assuming you don't yet have one. If your television is really old, and does not have HDMI connectivity, it would probably be better for you to get an Roku Express+ (Roku Express Plus) which comes with an AV Out cable to connect to older TV's without HDMI ports. That particular model is exclusive to Walmart, though, so you would need to buy it there. At $99.99 the Roku Ultra is a needless expense for older televisions. The Roku Express Plus costs just $39.99 and includes all the cables you would need to connect it to your TV. If I were you, I would go for that and save yourself sixty bucks! ;-) :-)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. One additional thing to what others said. The Rocku Ultra provides Ultra High Definition (UHD) / 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) Capability. You will need a high speed HDMI cable for that. Also if you have an old TV without HDMI input or one with Standard / High Definition and buy the Rocku Ultra, you are paying for Ultra High Definition that you will not be using.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You don't need anything else to use this with your smart TV. You simply connect the roku device to your TV via hdmi and that's it. A roku stick is a separate, stand alone device.
