My strategy is to get a middle-of-the-line product, not the top of the line. I found the Shark Rotator (emerald) perfect for my needs, a 3000+ square ft home with about 2000 square feet of hard floor and throw rugs, and about 1000 square feet of carpet. Most of the mid- and top-of-the-line vacuums, and even ones that cost $140, have HEPA filters and are bagless. The emerald model has a smaller form factor and smaller dust bin, but has plenty of capacity for my needs. It is very easy to use, converts quickly to a canister and back to an upright, and even comes with a second upright head and microfiber pad for hard floors. Bottom line: this Rotator is more than adequate, and you don't need the "seen on TV" Shark that comes with a "free" canister.

I RECOMMEND THE Rotator Powered Lift-Away. Pros and Cons Chart for Shark Powered Lift Away: PROS -More versatile -More suction -Better tools -Adjustable motor head -Can be an upright or canister vacuum -Better cyclone (for filtering) CONS -More expensive (almost double the price)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.More powerful suction, larger capacity, more accessories, and my rotator couldn't go flat (not sure if they do now). Also has a much better warranty.
