The SSD stands for Solid State Drive. Looks like a slice of RAM. Keep in mind that once the SSD is wiped by Windows--there is no going back, like there is w/a 'spinning drive' (i.e. HHD). SSDs are faster. They come in 500GB,1TB, 2 TB.
