I would consider it to require a "soft touch". My wife has no issue, either. I pressed a digit with my nail, then pressed a postage scale what I thought (subjectively) was a comparable amount. I would guess about a 5 ounce press was enough. I think I press the keys on my laptop with comparable force. I paid attention just now. Using my thumbnail, and being careful to press the exact digit, not between digits, everything required a very gentle touch and worked the first time as I pressed each digit. HOWEVER: 1. You must be accurate - if you don't press the right spot on the touchpad (e.g., you press between two digits), it won't make any diff how hard you press. 2. There is no tactile feedback to help you properly press the keys (on the other hand, it's Very easy to clean, so that's good). (But, I'd use a raised bubble of some sort for the digits, and tilt the keypad up a bit - it's on the counter, and I stand way above it.) 3. I consider the labeling to be low contrast - light gray on dark gray. My opinion is it could be (much) easier to read. It's not too difficult, but it could be easier. FWIW, we've had it for a couple of months and are very happy with it. We'd buy it again. We bought it online and picked it up at BestBuy, that worked well, also.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This microwave has a soft touch push buttons and it requires a slight push like all other. It's not a touch screen. Just make sure to push where the actual button sign is.
