In all the years I've been dealing with appliances, I've never seen any OTR microwave over 30 inches wide. Because over 95% of the ranges sold are 30" wide, so they fit directly over a 30" range. If one has a 36" wide range or cooktop, they are usually found in larger homes with larger kitchens, and those cooktops usually have a large range hood over it, and the microwave oven is either a countertop unit or possibly built in to the wall oven system.

I measured the space from left to right over my stove and it came out to around 36 inches. I searched and couldn't find the elusive 36 inch Microwave. I bought a regular 30" one and expected to have a gap. I had it installed and amazingly enough there is no gap. I can't figure it out. I'd take a tape measure and measure the space for the MicroWave, than go to the store and measure the actual MicroWave. Maybe it will fit.
