New over-the-range, built-in Samsung microwave’s counter light (40 watt) was too dim + heated the metal cabinet to the point that it would burn you if touched it! I went to our local lighting store & purchased a 60 watt LED bulb + an adapter to enlarge the base as it was too small, & it’s working GREAT! This LED bulb is dimmable so the low/high setting works A-OK) We have 50% more light now, using less electricity & the bulb is cool to the touch. Win-win-win! Adapter: Damar 03182A & Bulb: Damar 38612A Samsung should stop using the 40 watt bulb that they currently provide. (IMHO)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Samsung microwave. When the door is open the light is good (normal ) However when door is closed and cooking the bulb dims until it is almost out ( From the moment the door is closed) This is ridiculous as I wish to see the progress of the cooking. For instance when cooking porridge it is very easy for the porridge to over flow due to not being able to see through the glass door. I have sent a query to Cust Ser Samsung. Interested to see what they say as it is extremely poor as it is
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would not recommend a higher wattage bulb. You can take bulb to local hardware store and look for an LED with a 60 Watt equivalent rating or even 100 Watt equivalent that is the same size and base type. It will produce brighter light. Caution...the dimmer function may not function as you expect.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Thanks for the question. Samsung does not recommend using a bulb that has a higher wattage than what the SMH1816B cook top light is designed for. - Ms. Samsung
