Q: QuestionSamsung microwaveHow do I use the timer and cook at same time?

• A:Answer This is hard to believe. I had a 12 year old Maytag that died, and got this as replacement. This Samsung has less wattage, so takes longer to heat things up. And you can’t even use the timer in conjunction with using the microwave. Again, my 12 year old Maytag did that. Seems like Samsung is turning the clock back here. Everyone in the house has tried it, and couldn’t do. We were certain there was a way. Nope. Ridiculous

Q: QuestionUsing the timer independently of cooking something in the microwave?My manual says I should be able to use the timer independently during any cooking program. However, when I am cooking something for a long period of time (say 9 minutes) and try to press the kitchen timer button while the cooking is taking place, nothing happens. The time clock does not come up, so there is no way to set the timer. I had a GE profile microwave previously that had no problem cooking something and running the timer for another item that I am cooking on the stove at the same time. Is my microwave defective?

• A:Answer The timer and microwave do not work together. You can only use one function at a time. My previous 15 year old microwave would do both at the same time, seems very odd that a brand new one wouldn't have this functionality.

• A:Answer No, do not remove either of the inserts. The cardboard looking material is called Mica and both inserts should be left inside the microwave. The rectangular one on the right is the Wave Guide Cover. The circular one on the top is the Stirrer Cover.

Q: Question12 inch cabinetI have a cabinet that is 12 inches in depth that I would like to install this microwave under. I don't care if it is not flush with the cabinet beside it. Are the holes in the top of the microwave that are used for installation within 12 inches from the back of the microwave? I'm worried that the front installation holes will not be where I need them to attach to my cabinet.

• A:Answer This microwave is designed to install under a standard 12" depth cabinet. The mounting holes are about 10" from the back of the cabinet. If you have face frame cabinets ( not a smooth bottom) you will need a spacer to fit between the cabinet bottom and the top of the microwave at the mounting screw location. A stack of washers would work or a small block of wood.

Q: QuestionCan you turn off the beep/mute it, so it doesn't continually beep after finishing? i.e. permanently no beeping.

• A:Answer Yes you press the option button until the display says OP- 3 and then press 1 for beep on or 2 to turn the beep off. It will then prompt you to press start to confirm your settings changes.

• A:Answer Hi there, The hood exhaust for this microwave is a standard 3 ¼˝ x 10˝ rectangular duct. If a round duct is required, a rectangular-to-round transition adaptor must be used and it's not recommended to use less than a 6˝ diameter duct. ^Joan

• A:Answer I don't believe there wasn't a delivery charge, but I believe that the installation charge is $125. We carried ours home ourselves and installed it ourselves and would recommend spending the extra for installation if it is feasible, since it can be a tricky job (that most definitely requires at least 2 people to do).

• A:Answer If you mean the duct work to vent your unit to the outside I'd try a home improvement store. It has a blower and you position it so you can blow air out the front or up into the vent.
