Thank you for the question. The DMT400RHS should be installed so it can be attached either to your countertop using the top-mounting bracket or to your cabinets using the side mounting screws. Most people like it to be recessed completely under the countertop so the controls are hidden. In this case, you can press the buttons to program the cycle with the door slightly ajar, and the cycle should begin when the door is closed. - Ms. Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's up to you, but most people flush mount it, meaning NOT sticking out. You hit the buttons BEFORE you close the door, so flush mounting isn't an issue with that, and it looks better, IMHO. If you are mounting it to the undersiade of the countertop than you can do it either way, but if you are mounting it to the side of the cabinets (say, if you have granite countertops or somesuch), then you will be somewhat dictated by where the screw holes line up with the wood in the sides of your cabinets.
