It appears that the loud popping noise is caused by the expansion of the evaporator tubing during the time that the temperature of the fridge is initially stabilizing to the temperature you set, and then most people report the noise goes away or greatly diminishes. There is reportedly a "fix", but I don't know if it is already implemented at the factory as new units are built. The fix is a pad that cushions the compressor tubing & preventing it from "slapping" the inside of the fridge case. Complain louder than the slap and Samsung will eventually warrantee the repair/modification. I am going to ask them to add the kit to MY new fridge before it is even delivered..... It is also VITAL that the entire fridge is very accurately leveled in all 4 directions to keep the "slapping" noise from happening in the first place.... Implement these two tips and the noisy beast should be docile and quiet for you. :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had this refrigerator installed in my kitchen for about 24 hours. It had to run hard to lower its internal temperature from the delivery truck's temperature of more than 80 degrees to the set-point of 38 degrees F for the top and zero degrees F for the freezer. The only sound that I've heard, since it has been installed, is when cubes from the ice maker are dumped in the bin. Since we don't sleep near the refrigerator, that sound doesn't wake us up. If it did, we could turn off the ice maker with the push of a button.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not experienced a popping noise at all since buying this. I do not use the ice maker however, and have it turned off completely.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have had this unit for a few years and had excellent service from it ... except for the loud popping sound which we recently solved. We believe it has something to do with the ice maker system which must have been faulty since the unit was delivered. The ice maker began overflowing the cups a few months ago. The ice load was as if we had it on a 'crushed ice' selection plus other areas would be frozen up from overflow. He ordered a replacement ice maker on Amazon, installed it himself, and it is running amazingly quietly and not another popping sound has occurred.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have no popping noises. The only thing I can think of is that when the icemaker is empty you can hear the ice fall into the tray making a noise until several cycles have completed
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not true. I haven't heard anything like that. It is actually VERY quiet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it does make this noise, and yes, it will scare the heck out of you. Fortunately, it only does it like twice a day.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have two friends that own this fridge and both love it, no complaints from them regarding noise or other issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.stay away from this model of fridge, the popping noise is ICE that freezes. it will freeze and make those sounds until your warranty runs out and then that's when the headache begins. get ready to unplug your fridge ever 2-3 weeks because the freezing blocks the fan in the back. search youtube for this issue using the model number
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Kind of. Mine makes a loud popping sounds, frequently throughout the day. I would say that it would be loud enough for a light sleeper, but it has never woken me up. Perhaos since I'm used to it, I don't notice it.
