You don't need to connect a water line if you don't want the pitcher auto-filled and ice to be made. That said, you can run a water line from a water source and snake it around behind cabinets, or through wall discretely. Most modern kitchens should have a stub out behind the fridge for water line connection. In my case, while the house was being built, I had the output from an R.O. filter unit run to the spigot on the sink and junction off to the fridge connection point - it has it's own shutoff valve.

I understand you want to know if your Samsung Refrigerator has to be installed next to a water line to be connected. To answer your question, if your refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker, provide extra space at the rear of the refrigerator for the water line connection. When you install the refrigerator next to a fixed wall, you must provide a minimum clearance of 3 3/4" (95 mm) from the wall to allow the door to swing open. You may refer to the user manual on page 19: https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/202007/20200721031931478/DA68-04012L-00_FDR_RF6000T_ND__EN-MES-CFR_USA.pdf.
