Hi Ice, No, it doesn't need a drip tray. Please see the "Note" under "Maintenance" section on page 70 of the user's manual in case you experience water dripping after the fridge is installed. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There probably should be but there isn't. Our "drip tray" is a folded paper towel. Also if you press the center of the dispenser paddle for ice or water it doesn't shut off. We can only press toward the top to make it work correctly. Was told by a tech that came out it is not a malfunction just a bad design. Tell that to my grand kids while I'm running for a bath towel.
