A:AnswerInstallation costs depends. Just physically installing in the unit in a counter top with a correctly sized hole is super easy. You just drop it in, tighten up a couple hold down fixtures, and connect the 2 hot leads wires and the ground. The big installation issues are the counter top hole size, the wiring to the unit and appropriate circuit breaker.
This design has a wider range of acceptable cut out sizes than most and can fit into cut out holes from 281/8" to 291/4" wide and 195/8th to 201/2" deep. I had thought about buying a unit I could flush mount by cutting a lip in the granite, but I'm very happy with how this unit sits and looks.
The big installation issue is that this unit ( and most other induction units too) needs a strong electrical connection with wiring and breaker big enough for a 45Amp, 240Volt service. I pulled No. 6 wires (thick and heavy), but No. 8 (easier to install) should also meet code.
If your present installation is for a gas cook top that only needs a normal outlet with 15-20A 120V service, or even if your present cook top is an electric unit that only has 30 to 35 Amp 240V service you will need to put in new wiring and a new breaker, or call an electrician to do it for you. I spent about $100 on wires and parts, and about a day to pull the wires, put in junction boxes and a new breaker, but I'm pretty inexpensive on my own projects. I'd guess an electrician would need to get a permit, and would have taken a day to do my job. My guess is that it might have cost about the same as the cook top.
But, just listen to my sweetheart - that cook top is wonderful! So easy to clean, to control and use, and so blazing fast to heat. Made me a hero!
A:AnswerInduction units like this need a stronger power supply than most other stove top types. This model needs a minimum 40Amp supply, so you'll need at least number 8 wires (two leads plus ground -8/2 with g) from your breaker panel to the unit, and at least a 40 Amp breaker. I pulled 6/2 wg 50A for mine, but I'm an engineer and we often overdo things...
A:AnswerNo...the trim appears to be attached with a custom seal probably to isolate the glass/ceramic expansion from the trip expansion and to provide a positive connection of the glass/ceramic to the unit, itself. There's also a pan underneath that interfaces with the trim, and the trim is actually much wider underneath than you'd think . It essentially looks like it's the primary structural frame for the whole unit that the top, bottom pan and all internals are screwed/attached to. On top, it looks like a thin bezel, which is good.
The thing looks great, though, even with the trim. I prefer a flush mount, as well, but this unit is positively gorgeous despite the 1/4" rise caused by the stainless frame.
A:AnswerThe black SS edge is an integral part of the cook-top structure and supports the units weight on the counter top surface. The glass top appears to float in the trim, sealed with with looks like an RTV caulking. The unit sits about 3/8" proud of the counter top surface. It sits higher than some competitive units, but looks very good as the edge is tapered in front, and is very thin in profile on the other three sides.
A:AnswerHi JessInPhilly75,
Thank you for reaching out, and we hope you are in good health. We appreciate your interest in Samsung home appliances, specifically with Samsung - 30" Induction Cooktop with WiFi and Virtual Flame™ - Stainless steel.
Yes, the Induction cooking zones of this cooktop adapt automatically to the size of the bottom of the cookware up to a certain limit. However, the magnetic part of the bottom of the cookware must have a minimum diameter depending upon the size of the cooking zone.
I have shared the user manual link below. Please access the link and turn to page 27 for pot and pan sizes.

A:AnswerI miss read when I took the plunge. The key word is "monitoring" that is used in the description for it's wifi capabilities of this induction cooktop. The timer doesn't shut off any of the burners. I hope they come up with an app that can control the timer where it can shut off the individual burners. However if you purchase a matching Samsun wifi range hood, that can be "controlled" and shut off remotely.
A:AnswerHi there,
The Power Boost P function only boosts the cooking power of the cooktop, depending on the cooking zone. There is no specific level of power that we can adjust.

A:AnswerMine does that tick on the power boost too. I just now tried all the burners on the power boost.
Turning on any burner is a tick.
Power boost:
Bottom right - no
Bottom left (flex zone) - yes but not very loud
Top left flex zone - yes but even quieter
Big burner - yes
