“What is the manufacture warranty for this washer and matching gas dryer? Should I be concerned about power surges. This has not been a problem for my appliances in the past. I just purchased the set from Best Buy but not sure if I need to have the extended protection.”

I would totally recommend Geek Squad protection for your Samsung washer. I didn't have it for my first one, and went round and round with Samsung before they finally agreed it was unfixable, and replaced the machine. Geek Squad protection is much better, and very reasonable.

The matching DV45H6300 Dryer is covered for parts & labor for one year, and the control board part for two years. I would suggest you refer to the full written warranty or call 800-SAMSUNG for specific questions with regard to coverage in the event of a power outage or surge.
