I spent a solid 4 hours talking to customer service at Samsung AND at Best Buy and finally got some answers. The model WA48H7400AW/AA has been approved and certified by Samsung to be safe and not affected by the recall. It is an improved version of the same model (WA48H7400AW/A2) they just didn't want to advertise it as the same model to reduce confusion. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The difference is the WA48H7400AW/AA is the replacement for the WA48H7400AW/A2. The /A2 is the unit that is recalled and not available under that model number anymore. The /AA washer has been updated and the lid now holds down better during heavy spinning cycles.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Best Buy stated to me that the AA is an older model. My receipt shows AA but the model delivered is an A2. The recalled A2 models have a certain set of 5 characters at the beginning of the serial number.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Appears to work the same way. A2 replaced AA
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes there's a difference. It's smaller, and the settings are different
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the balance issue has been resolved. I have read the manual thoroughly and have followed the directions with complete satisfaction.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe they replaced the glass top with a high quality plastic top. Looks the same, but you can tell when you touch the area which used to be glass. Glass is cold to the touch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I hope Samsung fixed more than just the excessive vibration and the exploding lid issues, which were the reasons for the recall. After just 7 months of use, my recalled washer already started having problem with the control panel (e.g., the Spin Only cycle would Rinse & Spin instead). In addition, the High speed spin no longer extracted as much water as when we first got the machine (problem with the water pump?). Plus, the machine, with increasing frequency, would stop during a cycle because of the Unbalanced Load error, which lengthened the total cycle time. It got to the point where I started washing smaller and smaller loads to try to compensate for the aforementioned problems, which, of course, defeats the purpose of having a large capacity washer. A lemon? Perhaps. But this new "AA" model looks too similar to the recalled "A2" model; a total re-design is probably needed. So, after also having purchased a disappointing Samsung refrigerator, I'm staying away from Samsung big appliances for a while.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Model WA48H7400AW/A2 is a 4.5 gal washer and the Model WA48H7400AW/AA is a 4.8 gal. This makes it a deeper tub. If you are short, (I'm 5'9" tall) you may have a problem reaching the bottom, I almost can't reach it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
