A:Answer I own both the 49" 7 Series and 49" 8 Series, and there is little to no difference in the picture quality of the two T.V.s. They are both HDR, the Smart T.V. function operates at the same speed on both T.V. and they both have the same motion rate. I believe the color is slightly better on the 8 Series, but certainly not worth cost upgrade. The only real difference is the 8 Series has the One Connect box, so I purchased it for our gaming T.V, so my kids don't have to reach behind the T.V. that's mounted on the wall. The 8 Series also has a very thin bezel, giving the T.V. a more sleek look. All my T.V.s are 2017 Model
I own Two 49" 7 Series, One 49" 8 Series, and One 65" 8 Series, and if it wasn't for the one connect box, all my T.V.s would be the 7 Series.
