I'm probably too late to help you make a decision but I hope you didn't buy another Samsung washer. I purchased two Samsung top-load washers in the past 7 years and will never buy another one again. The first one was recalled due to spin cycle issues and the rebate was so pitiful that I had to purchase another Samsung washer to even recoup 30% of my cost. Fast-forward 2 months after the warranty expires and there is rust growing around the bleach dispenser even though I rarely use bleach and am careful about wiping it dry afterwards. Samsung will do nothing to repair or compensate because the warranty has expired. There is even a class-action suit against them for this because so many customers are experiencing the issue (Google it if you have doubt). We are all stuck with these expensive washers with no customer service. Once the rust has expanded, it gets into the wash load and your clothes are covered with it. I will never purchase another Samsung appliance again after being burned twice. Consider yourself warned and get something else. When a company ignores a problem this widespread with their machines, how can you knowingly fall for them again? I only bought a second Samsung because it doubled my rebate amount...I am sure not going to buy a third one after having two machines fail in the span of 7 years due to design flaws.

Now rusting around the lid hinges and the detergent/softener dispensers. Just now reading about all the others with similar issues. The machine is inside in a heated/air conditioned room so it should not be rusting. We seldom even use bleach.

I have contacted Samsung regarding this matter on a number of occasions. They will do nothing about this, since I am out of warranty. I do not believe that a washer that is less than 10 years old should have this rust issue. I would never buy another Samsung product again. BUYER BEWARE! I understand a class action lawsuit may be pending, but have not heard anything further on this action.

So I'm so hesitant about buying this one for my daughter. She can't afford a new one every 5 years due to it rusting out.

I just did a small load of whites, they are ruined and covered in rust stains. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

My sister has the same set just a few years older and she sent me pictures and it looks brand new. she has no rust in hers. These seem to be very nice units and no complaints thus far.

I am fortunate to have had a 5yr Warranty on mine. The company is replacing the whole washer free of charge. I went with a GE Elite. I'm saddened to read that this rust issue goes back more than 10yrs and Samsung has done nothing about the issue and has had terrible customer service regarding it.

The matching dryer has a cracked drum which there had been a class action suit filed against them for that dryer defect. I'm super disappointed in this situation and I'm searching for recourse.
