“Will this oven need to be vented? My current slide-in range has a downdraft that vents to the outside of the house. Will this oven need to be vented as well? It doesn't appear to have a downdraft, so I wasn't sure.”

I had a Jenaire that was center vented to outside and now with this range I have no vent at all. It will have to be added somehow overhead in the future. Pan searing and frying bacon or fish creates quite a mess in the air that needs to be cleaned up somehow or vented outside. With nothing, the house smells for days, and kitchen will get greasy.

Whether you'll need a range hood or Over the Range Microwave depends on whether you have cabinets or other flammable surfaces above the Range. I would also suggest checking local building codes. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think most ovens have a vent either its on the front at the top of the door., or its on the back. You can see the slatts if you look. If you had a down draft it was most likely for the cook top. But probably did help some with the heat that comes out of the vent when the oven is on. Hoods are another story The hood is over the cooktop and it is either vented or ventless (like microaves over the stove have the vent you can turn on but it usually has only a filter and cleans the air ) but if yours went to the outside youare set up for a vent - Id use it. But for a HOOD. Not for the oven. It would as I said probably help with the heat from oven whether its coming out of the front or the back.
