Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you put water in the depression at the bottom of the oven, then once you choose steam cleaning it locks the oven for thirty minutes. After thirty minutes, you wipe up the water (carefully) and hopefully whatever you wanted to clean will come up easily. I burned some vegetable juices on the bottom of the oven and still had to use a brillo pad and elbow grease after the steam cleaning. But it was thirty minutes and not super high temps versus the self clean which was four hours and blazing hot (probably with more fumes as our range is still pretty new). With some other messes the steam clean may work better than it did for me.
