The greater the dynamic range of a TV, the more difference between bright intense colors (like in an amazing red sunset) and the darkest deepest depths (like a nighttime scene that still shows subtle but distinct colors). It is NOT about differences in blacks and whites (which are described by ratings for Contrast and Black Levels). HDR is a description of color fidelity (range).
