Stands for High Dynamic Range, it supposed to give you a wider variety of colors and brightness than a standard high definition making the picture look more vivid.

"Wiki HDR" Look in the long list of results you get for a results that gives a URL that begins with "en.wikipedia.org" (leaving out the h h t p s portion so the link doesn't get deleted). Then read. If you are still a little confused after reading wikipedia's long description, look at some of the other results. This is the BEST way for you to understand what HDR is, and not trust what people could possibly say on a comments section, which can often be wrong.
