Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The griddle is cast iron but it is also coated; it's very easy to hand wash; I would NOT put it in the dishwasher. It also has a small trough all the way around its outer edge for the grease to run into. You can take it off and still have a cast iron grate underneath so that you can use the center burner without the griddle if so desired.
