The option to purchase a Geek Squad Protection plan is entirely up to you. While your TV did come with a one year manufacturer warranty, there would be a charge for any needed services after that without a Geek Squad Protection plan. I would consider it a good idea to purchase a plan when it comes to the higher priced items, as it is obviously a bigger investment. I hope that helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had this tv about a month or so and haven't had any problems. With that said, I had a Samsung smart tv for 4 years and it was a lemon. I purchased the protection and every time there was a problem they fixed it at no cost, and last month they replaced my lemon with this brand new tv. I know the protection is expensive but is worth it. I purchased the protection on my new tv. Hopefully you won't have to use it, but if you do, you are covered.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would not purchase a warranty in this case, -- *Quick Conclusion:: Your relative cost of the warranty is closer to 40-50% of the repair/replacement cost when the warranty would be used, typically 3-5 years after purchase. --- *Detailed Conclusion: The depreciation in new tech/electronics makes warranties complex and typically, very difficult to reccomend. In your case there is an initial cost of 20% to protect your investment for 5 years. How well does this warranty accomplish that goal? Your initial investment is not covered/protected, only the cost to replace or repair the product. The cost of replacement/repair is constantly decreasing while the warranty cost remains constant. Therefore the value of the warranty diminishes greatly over time. --*5 Year Warranties are typicall 2: A good manufacturer warranty is typically 3 years. This leaves the extended warranty only covering the time between 3-5 years after purchase, or 2 years. This 3-5 year time period is also when the relative cost of the warranty would be closer to 40-50% of the replacement cost.--- * When to Purchase a Warranty: A Warranty should only be purchased if a store/provider offsets the diminishing returns of a warranty. This can be done by offering tech support by phone 9Apple), money back for unused warranties (Ashley furniture), hassle free trade up if a product fails to meet your performance needs/expectations, (Microcenter). These are all good example of added incentive and justifying costs. Typically in store warranties are purely profiteering opportunities. Many companies provide extended warranties for far less than the purchase location is far cheaper if you only want "lemon insurance" (Square Trade). My advice is to research potential warrantiy options prior to shopping. There are many options and clear advantages/disadvantages for each situation/purchase. I hope this helps! This is not meant to be defamatory in nature nor is it specific to Best Buy's Services/Warranties.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No! You should never buy an extended warranty for anything. Don't give them more of your money.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Samsung has amazing customer service, I don't feel the need for Geek Squads service. That being said I've had zero issues with the TV, if the connect has a issue you'll know well within your window.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have only ever owned Samsung TV's and LOVE them. Operating systems are a bit cloogie but the TVs perform beautifully. I think the warranty is a great idea if you plan on having the TV and not replacing it with something newer. That said, the last Samsung TV I bought I had for 5 years and would have had it another 5 if it hadn't been stolen in a break-in. I had one problem in the first year and Samsung sent someone to my house, popped in a new chip and I was back in business...all free. It's just a judgement call and how much the peace of mind is worth to you. I guess the question is....in 3-5 years how much will that same (or like) unit cost? If the answer is MORE than the amount of the warranty then I'd get the warranty.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, I have confidence in Samsung products
