“will it work even if you dont hook up the steam my washer and dryer are nowhere near each other ( old house, dont ask) . If later on I move and am able to use the steam option, I would like to have a dryer that can do this at that time. Will the dryer work NOW, if I dont hook up the steam option?”

Yes, you can use this dryer without connecting it to water for the steam function.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Our Samsung dryer is hooked up to our water supply but we haven't used that function yet. We've used the dryer for many different types of clothes and bedding and never used the steam setting, everything dries very well. I would think that the machine would work for all of the settings other than the one that uses the water for steam. If you're concerned, you could get a PVC cap to screw on the water intake on the machine which would close that water entry on the dryer. Hope this helps.

The installer said since they're not next to one another he couldn't hook up the steam hose, but that it would still operate just fine.

Keep in mind, however, that it can be connected directly to your home's water supply if that's available nearby; it doesn't have to be connected through the Washer. - Ms. Samsung

The BB team set it up for me, but I am sure you can buy the hose in store and add it on later. But better ask the BB team for sure. Good luck. LOVE my washer and dryer, and the steam option is great.
