I didn’t do the software update and just did the plug and play to test. It was running the full speed. But I had read that you can ask the Geek Squad to update the firmware though I’m not sure if they charge for that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They have manufactured date on the box, I believe anything made after July will have the fast speed, I was told geek squad can update for a fee. You will most likely be good to buy without worries they’re selling like hotcakes
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it can, but upon asking them to update it the current firmware came on drive right out of the box got 6500 without updating
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine came with the latest firmware
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, they do not update the firmware. The 5500/5600 is about the same rates as the actual PS5 rates which are pretty great by itself.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Wouldn’t count on it - My Best Buy Today told me I would have to become a total tech member ($200) or pay $40-80 for the geek squad to do it for me. Thankfully, prob since it shows as being manufactured 2/2022, it was blazing fast right out of the box (PS5 read as 6486 MB/s at install).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just received my FireCuda, headed over to bestbuy to see if they’ll do update. They tired selling me the totalcare package for $200 to do the update. Thank you, next!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I doubt Best buy would do this without a fee. If ask as the worst case scenario that you'd get is them telling you NO.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.PS5 only & the PS5 will need to be updated before you put this into the console.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Guest505: A firmware update is not required before installing it on the PS5. ~ Samsung Memory
