Nope. No firmware update needed. Just make sure you buy the one with a ***heatsink*** on it or else the 990 pro or any other ssd will overheat inside of the PS5.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It does not require that the firmware be updated prior to installation. However, if you have installed it you'll need to remove it and use a PC to update. The PS5 does not have the capabilities to update the M.2's firmware.
