“Does the door only come one way, opening from right to left as the pictures show? Also, when the door opens, does it need more clearance to the left of left side of the unit when it swings open?”

Yes, the door isn’t reversible. I measured mine and I would recommend leaving 3” to the left as the door opens almost 180 degrees. 3” seems to be enough space for the door to fully open. Hope that helps!
