Q: QuestionI have the same question about why this memory stick isn't widely available, but specifically, I want o know whether it is formatted and ready to use in my 27" late 2012 iMac for transferring and backing up more than 30,000 photos and videos.

• A:Answer I don't know if it has a large enough capacity to hold all your photos and videos, so make sure you check that out. To answer your question, yes, you can use it as is. But unless you need to use it on both Mac and Windows, I would format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in Disk Utility. Very simple. Just plug in the flash drive, open Disk Utility, select the flash drive's name on the left, click on Erase and choose GUID for the scheme and Mac OS Extended (journaled) for the format. Then click on Done when it's finished and that button appears. Then use the drive as usual.

• A:Answer Yes. It is completely reverse compatible with 2.0 and 3.0 ports on your computer. However, you cannot achieve the highest read/write speeds as advertised. If you have large files like movies (1 GB and larger) you will be noticeably slower on a 2.0 port. Look for the "SS USB" port if available.

• A:Answer usually when a flash drive doesnt work on a phone is because the thumb drive has a capacity larger than the phone can handle. You need to check your user manual to see what the max size of the thumb drive can be used. I can tell you now that the samsung S8 has a max of 64G so the S7 may be thesame or less.
