Hi Charlie, The washer does not heat the water itself. It needs a heater to supply a minimum of 49 °C hot water at the tap. Thank you for choosing Samsung and have a great day! ^Rainly

The manufactures don't explicitly call this out, so I was wondering if you were able to find a washing machine that has a fully independent water heater--that can work with cold tap water?
