It doesn't work for copper or aluminum unless they clad iron. Many stainless pots and pans don't work either. If a magnet will stick to your pot/pan it will likely work on the range.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can not use pots and pans that are full aluminum or full ceramic. If the ceramic or aluminum pots and pans have a steel base they will work on this range. Of course full stainless steel or layered stainless steel pots and pans are the ideal though. If looking for simple steel-base pots and pans you can get a good Circulon set at Costco or Amazon for around $200. Stainless steel with a copper-core are the high-end option but a good set like All Clad will run around $1800. I picked up some All Clad d5 pots and pans, They have 5 layers, 3 steel and 2 aluminum, and they work very nicely. They can be pricey but if have a HomeGoods near you you can often find them there at around 30-50% of the normal store prices.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Induction works with magnetics so the cookware must be compatible with that. Basically, if you can take a magnet and get it to stick to the bottom, it will work. Some aluminum cookware now has a plate put into the bottom so it is compatible as well. When shopping, look on the packaging. Many manufacturers now have pictures to indicate the types of cook tops the pan is compatible with.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The only requirement is having cookware that a magnet will stick to. I bought a set of the Calphalon Tri-ply stainless steel pans and love them. Most cookware that is compatible with the induction cooktops will be identified as such. Just take a small magnet with you when you go shopping or use a magnet to check the pans you already have.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the magnet sticks to bottom and not the sides then the area where the magnets sticks is the only area that will conduct heat. And if the pot or pan is too light the heat may not conduct as well. It took me a long time to find a small pan to fry an egg to work but I did! the bottom of the pan is usually thick and made of steel and if the sides stick to the magnet, that's a plus!

Induction technology uses magnetic energy to heat the pan, and ultimately your food, so as long as you have magnetic pans it should work, though there are size restrictions, as well. Aluminum is not magnetic, but some aluminum pots and pans may have bottoms or coatings that are magnetic. Just hold a magnet to the bottom of the pan - if it sticks, it's magnetic. I would also suggest reviewing the section in the User Manual with information about selecting the appropriate cookware both for functionality and to prevent scratches to the cook top. The manual can be downloaded as a pdf file from Samsung's website. - Ms. Samsung
