• Yes it can. The memory card must be formatted as FAT32 before the 3DS can recognize it.

• I would assume it can because I replaced the one in my new 3DS bought on Black Friday. I believe they both share the same compatible SD cards.

• This will only work on the new 3ds xl not the first 3ds modle. But really recommend it for your new 3ds xl
