No, it is not the same. The sim card has to do with a cellular network of a given provider (you need a sim card to make and receive phone calls, send and receive texts, and use cellular data. A micro SDXC card is a storage device. It is almost like a secondary hard drive for a phone. Old technologies that sd cards are like, as to purpose besides hard drives, are tapes, floppy diskettes, cds and dvds that could be recorded over or have information added to them.
