I'm afraid it's not fake. All microSD, USB drive, hard drive, SSD drive say 512GB but actually it's 477gb. What happens was there was a conundrum when it comes down with 1024 byte system emphasizing it's not 1000 byte system. It's computer science. Think of it as a leap year for computer's byte because they have to adjust the numbers. Here's a quot from AnandTech. 1 kibibyte = 1024 bytes. 1 mebibyte = 1024*1024 = 1048576 1 gibibyte = 1024*1024*1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes 512 GB = 1,073,741,824 * 512 = 549,755,813,888 And what happens if you take 512000000000 / 549,755,813,888? You get the number 0.9313 And when you take 512 and multiply that by 0.9313? You get 476.8 The discrepancy stems from the fact that a KiB is 1024 bytes not 1000 bytes. Once you multiply that 2.4% error several times, you get a pretty significant discrepancy, as you can see.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I agree with the previous answer.477 gb is a normal figure for the file system. It would be fake if it had more than 477 gb showing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So they should make like a 520 or 525 so whatever saftware is n the sdcard take the space when u insert ur 512 n the computer u get ur 512 not 477
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's not a fake card... Every device or piece of memory that you get tells you a certain capacity but you have to also take into account the software that is used to keep the card functioning properly. So yes, it is 512 GB but its 477 because the rest is taken up by software. Cheers.
