When I finally got done setting most of it up the way I wanted, I noticed the sim tray had both the Sim and SD slot. However the portion that should be recessed to house a secondary sim was not. I cannot find a tray replacement because of how new the phone is. 9:40 AM Sorry still not sure that I can help, let me connect you to one of our team members to help you out. 9:40 AM Chat with a person 9:40 AM I will be connecting you to a Samsung Care Pro who can help. You are connected with Sagar Kol from Samsung Care. Sagar Kol, SAMSUNG Care Pro 9:41 AM Hi, Welcome to Samsung Support. My name is Sagar. I'll be your Samsung Pro today. 9:41 AM Pleasure. Are you able to see the rest of the messages between Angela and I? 9:42 AM Yes, are you referring to the dual sim tray? 9:42 AM That is correct 9:42 AM Thanks for the confirmation. 9:42 AM Jeff , the US version phone comes with only one sim option. 9:43 AM The dual sim facility is not available for the US version phones. 9:43 AM Really? Thats not what I was told upon purchase. 9:44 AM Or else I would have bought and Korean version online and waited a week before deactivating my other. 9:44 AM Jeff, We'd like to see you happy and always willing to share the best option with you. 9:45 AM The US version phones are single sim phones. 9:46 AM I just paid $1300 for the phone. I would like to think that what I paid for is going to serve one of the major functioning factors for that purchase. 9:46 AM What are my options? 9:47 AM You can check for the return option with the place of purchase if you want to use the dual sim phone. 9:49 AM Its now a 2 day old open box item. It will also cost me a $restocking fee. Was told that at purchase. I do not want to pay more money for something that I just dropped $1300 on. 9:50 AM It's never our intention to provide the inconvenience to the customers. We always strive to create a positive customer experience. However, the dual sim phones are not available on the Samsung US website. 9:52 AM Everywhere that I read about the phone, nowhere did it state US versions would not be dual sim. I was instructed by an approved dealer that the phone was dual sim. Now you are informing me it is not. Both my carriers are capable and the phone doesn't support as advertised? Again, I would have gladly ordered a phone online that wasnt US if that were the case. 9:52 AM Is there another solution? 9:52 AM Is there a firmware flash? 9:52 AM A simple bios update and a new tray. 9:53 AM You can check on the official Samsung website. The dual sim phones are not available. You can check for the eSim facility by contacting the carrier. 9:55 AM So the answer you are giving me is all the advertisement on the phone for dual sim functionality is currently false as the website itself says that it isn't available? 9:56 AM Yes, the dual sim phones are not available on the official Samsung US website. 9:57 AM The advertisements you have seen might be for the Non-US version phones. 9:58 AM So there is no solution to my problem? You were saying to take it back as a brandade to the fact you cant help my issue. 9:58 AM So are non US versions dual sim? 9:59 AM I would have been happy to help you but the option for the dual sim is not available. However, you can check for the non-US version phones for the dual Sim compatibility. 10:01 AM Is it possible to swap Samsung directly to replace for a correct version of the phone? 10:01 AM It is literally 2 days old. 10:01 AM You need to check the available options with the place of purchase. 10:03 AM Thank you for trying to assist me. 10:03 AM You're welcome. 10:04 AM One last question, Do you have a customer review section you can link up? 10:05 AM You can provide us with the feedback when the chat ends. 10:07 AM Thank you. I would like to feedback everywhere possible. I will also be seeking out every form of social media as well as reaching out to friends to help me spread the word about the support I have received. 10:09 AM I really apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. I would have been happy to help if there was any option available. 10:11 AM I get it. You have a dealer supply chain for a reason. Its unfortunate they do not have to know the product they sell. Its more unfortunate that the end user consumer gets stuck with a $1300 dollar piece of (equipment) that does not even serve one of the single functions for buying the phone. That isnt your fault.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I went through the similar thing and after hours of tech-support through Samsung direct and tech-support support a Verizon around November was told that it did come through the same capability as Apple with only needing one Sim card and the second could be electronic eSIM but they could not get the phones to work correctly so they eliminated the option for now and was told they are working on it and it’s possible
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought second hand an AT&T SM-986U unlocked. Phone. The seller switched to Verizon, and it worked for him. When I got it it booted up as AT&T, only one SIM slot amd one SD slot. The box had 2 IMEI numbers so I was suspicious that it does support dual SIM. It turns out the AT&T does not support this phone with eSIM yet. And have not enabled the feature, however, T-Mobile did enable it in the June 2021 update. So using ODIN the latest version I was able to re-flush the ROM to the latest T-Mobile ROM. I downloaded it on some site on called SAM something, I don’t remember. Folllowing instructions posted there, I was able to flush the T-Mobile ROM and now the phone has the T-Mobile pink logo when it boots up and is all T-mobile and still unlocked. Now, the phone model changed to SM-986U/DS. (Dual SIM) and the eSIM option is enabled offering options on how the dual SIM need to be configured. My tray is still a 1 SIM one Micro SD with no dual SIM slot on the tray, so I bought on eBAy a hybrid Dual SIM tray / 1 SIM + SD . I will get it in a few days. I am very hopeful that after having T-Mobile enable dual SIM that it actually has 2 SIM card readers. I have eSIM now on an AT&T SM-986U that is now turned into T-Mobile with model name SM-986/DS. I expect the new tray to work with 2 physical SIM cards, at least I have eSIM as an option now. I do use T-Mobile. I did however read that the Snapdragon version note 20 ultras do not have 2 SIM readers And that the other chip does have a 2 reader. Let’s see when I get my dual SIM note 20 ultra tray.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In my research. No US models support dual SIM. Only EU and Internation models. The phone is not set up for US wireless bands in a dual mode
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.According to Sammobile, the SM-N986U model which is the US version of Note 20 Ultra with Snapdragon 865+ chipset, and also the model BestBuy claims to carry, "should" come with a second hybrid SIM slot. But BestBuy reps in store denies to have this feature on their version. Saying it's only in Europe, where the phones would have the Exynos chipset. https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-20-ultra-5g/specs/#SM-N986U But the Exynos chipsets don't have the SM-N986U model name. Confusing indeed. Hope someone else can clarify.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I got my hybrid dual SIM card from eBay, and I’m sad to inform that only 1 SIM is enabled and eSIM is enabled. It didn’t see the 2 SIM cards. Either the Note 20 ultra dual SIM tray I bought , that fits perfectly and the 1 SIM works and the SD card works. Bit 2nd SIM in the tray is not working. T-mobile has just released the November 26 2021 update and still it doesn’t work. Now the question is if anyone took apart a SM=986U Samsung phone to see if it physically has a dual SIM card reader. The other possibility is that T-Mobile didn’t enable the 2nd SIM reader. Perhaps a custom ROM may have this feature enabled. I checked all the forums and didn’t find more information. By the way, T-Mobile has an app called Digits. It is literally like having a T-mobile chip in the phone , if you have a SIM card that has internet, Digits will offer you free access to your T-Mobile number for free. So in essence I now have 2 numbers. I still need to have 2 physical SIM cards in my phone, as where I live having only one chip doesn’t give good coverage, I need 2 different providers. The search goes on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought a T-Mobile"dual sim/dual active phone (eSim) and TelcelMexico physical Sim DO NOT BUY this phone it is worthless for dual active/dual sim. I have had 4 months trying to resolve an ATTENTION pop-up that freezes the phone until I click CANCEL or SETTINGS. This interruption happens often, every few minutes when BOTH sims are active. The only way to eliminate it is to turn OFF the secondary sim. THis happens with DATA ROAMING in BOTH conditions: DATA ROAMING ON & DATA ROAMING OFF. It reads: 1)" ATTENTION Data roaming is turn on. International roaming charges may apply as per your rate plan. To turn off Data roaming, please go to Settings>Connections>Mobile Settings"; so when turning OFF Data Roaming, this is the interrupter 2) "ATTENTION Data Roaming is turned off. To turn on Data roaming, please go to Settings>Connections>Mobile networks. International roaming charges may apply as per your rate plan." The ONLY solution is to turn OFF your SIM that is not your current country. Thereby making this is standard single sim phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just bought the note 20 ultra in Tunisia, it does have the dual sim and works fine, but I have Tmobile so have to get it registered on a tmobile server before it will access my US calling features. Other than that it's good, glad I didn't buy it in the US.
