The deal we got in on, is that we ordered from BB (activating on Verizon, so basically an upgrade). BB gives you the paperwork on how to do the trade-in, which triggers a return package being sent to you from Verizon. Put your old phone (wiped and accessories removed) in it and send it back and, if it passes muster at Verizon, they credit you whatever trade-in value on your statement, over several billing cycles.
