  • QuestionDoes the stylus take pictures

    Asked by Zeek.

    • Answer As far as I can tell, holding the button on the stylus acts like a "remote control" that makes the phone take a photo. From what I can tell, the stylus is not taking the photo. However, I turned off _lots_ of camera settings that annoyed me by trying to alter my photos instead of letting me do what I need to do for clients of my small business. I have only had this phone about a month, and I am seriously thinking about returning it. Samsung has made S Note all but completely useless for my business. I used to be able to take before & after pix and later put them together on a single page in S Note and add a caption so clients could see the results. I used to use S Note to rearrange furniture in a room by using the grid background to show clients what I wanted to do without having to actually move their furniture until they approved the plan. I used to sketch right on a photo of their room ways to imrove organization. I can't do that now except in a far limited version with photo editor. In the old S Note app, I could draw sketches in multiple colors of objects in a space and could cut and paste the sketches right on to a photo of the space or on the grid background. I used to be able to paste a photo into the old S Note app and use the erase function to remove all but one item in a photo. I could then save the edited photo on another page in the same S Note and then cut snd past the trimmed image on another one. The old S Note app was a super functional app that I used almost daily and loved using. The new vetsion of the S Note spp is little more than a sticky note. The new version of the S Note app no longer lets me create multi-page notes integrating photos, text, and sketches that I can email to clients as a .pdf. I have been a loyal Note fan from the very 1st one, and I have so far found not one thing that makes ne glad I bought the Note 9. _All_ I can do w the new version of the S Note app is scribble on the screen on a single page sticky note that I can't even figure out how to rename now! Also, every auto update has completely re-set all my personalized app settings. Three times I have had to re-customize my home screen! In about 1 month, I have literally screamed in frustration at this machine. The Bixby app is downright insidious: recording my voice and taking pictures without my consent and sharing my info with services I do not now and will not ever use--like facebook and Uber. I even wenrt in and un-checked the privacy settings at least 3 different times only to find that updates had changed my dis-agree in the privacy setting back to agreeing to sharing my data with Uber and facebook! It is all but impossible to disable the most invasive features of this phone bc if U do, the updates un-do Ur settings. This phone tries to connect to the Samsung TV and Samsung answering machine that belong to other people in the house in which I live. I pretty much hate the invasiveness of the "Smart" app that makes all my callers sound like they are under water when someone else's Samsung TV in the house is on. I cannot figure out how to disable the stupid "smart" thing that is disrupting my calls severely bc someone else here owns a Samsung TV! I am beyond frustrated with this phone, and I have been a _huge_ Note fan prior to getting Note 9 about 1 month ago. I cannot comprehend why Samsung chose to severely curtail the awesome functionality of the S Note app that mde their Note phones so awesome; Note 9 should not even bear the Note appelation: It is far inferior to my old Note 5!

  • QuestionIf not now, will there ever be other colors available (aside from Blue and Purple)? I really like the stainless steel (S7), but looks like this is not popular.

    Asked by ET.

    • Answer In the past, Samsung has released a different color during Christmas, but obviously we civilians could never know if they're going to do it for a specific phone.

  • QuestionYes or no, will this phone work on Boost Mobile? Boost Mobile tech support reps can't/won't give me a straight answer. I realize that I would need a Boost sim card, but will their network adequately *support* all the features on this phone? Thanks!

    • Answer As this is an unlocked phone, it will work with all US carriers. However, some Boost features won't be on the phone.

  • QuestionWhy won't the website let me preorder the black or silver today before it is available on October 5th?

    Asked by BRYMFYRE.

    • Answer Clearly Samsung messed up and wasn't able to "make the release date" cuz we are well past the 5th when it was supposed to come out, and the website isn't even allowing future orders to be made. Which is really dumb, cuz if Samsung is having issues cuz they didn't manufacture enough, then getting an idea of how many people want it would be the smart thing to do........so must be why they aren't doing it that way. Lol. Allowing pre-orders would be the best thing for best buy to do, because now we are going to look elsewhere to buy it, and if someone offers pre-order they will get our money since best buy isn't even giving us any hope of getting it from them.

  • QuestionHello Does the language support Arabic ??

    Asked by Yasser.

    • Answer Yes, and you can choose the region as well. but you'll have to add it (download) in the language settings on the phone. This does not extend to apps, they have to support Arabic as well. If they don't, the app will default to which ever language the app supports. Excuse the screenshot quality, Best Buy compresses the image.

  • Questioncan bisby be disactivated? and can you transfer pictures from phone to a USB memory?

    Asked by joe.

    • Answer Based on my research, Bixby cannot yet be deactivated on the Note 9. There is an app, bxActions, which allows you to map functionality to.the Bixby button. Regarding the transfer of Pictures to a USB Flash Drive, just go to the My Files app, select the pictures you want to transfer and then either copy or move them to your Flash Drive. Hope this helps. • Questionis there any possibility of getting note9 512 or 128 in dual sim...when & where...?

    Asked by bond.

    • Answer Samsung told me on 1/22/19 that the Best Buy Model: SM-N960UZBFXAA (SKU: 6278214) is a SINGLE SIM MODEL, and in order to get a model with DUAL SIM SUPPORT you would need to get a model with CODE SM-N960F/DS. This is considered a "global" or "international" model phone. It can use EITHER a single SIM, or a single SIM with an SD card, or TWO SIMs at the same time, automatically receiving signals from BOTH SIMs simultaneously. For example, one SIM might be for the CDMA network that Verizon (and it's associated operators) uses and the other could be a GSM SIM that AT&T networks use. This, then, provides you greater coverage as the phone "travels" around the country/world. There are trade offs. The SECOND SIM actually physically must be installed into the SD card slot location, meaning you cannot use an SD card at the same time that you use the dual SIM functionality. The SD card/SIM slot is referred to as "Hybrid". Hybrid is only available on the ~F/DS coded models. Therefore, this is a reason why people buy phones with more INTERNAL storage (512GB instead of 128GB). There are other trade offs as well. Certain other carrier features like WiFi calling, visual voice mail may not work in an international model.

  • QuestionI want to know when the Samsung not 9 512gb 8Gb RAM will be available in best buy . Because I already ordered one but there's nothing new about when it will be available

    Asked by Zerozeros.

    • Answer To be honest the best thing you can do is if you pre-ordered it unlocked stop waiting and go into your nearest Best Buy store and have them order it. If you pre-ordered it unlocked you haven’t paid for it yet and thus they will take their sweet time. I went into the store on Friday and ordered it and went ahead and paid for it because it’s no longer a preorder item but an actual product now carried. They told me it said to be determined for the shipping date but I got a text and email saying that the phone was ready to be shipped and it was awaiting UPS pick up two hours after I left and I am holding it now in my hand as I speak on Monday.

  • QuestionWill the unlocked 512gb variant of the phone be available in store on release date August 24th?

    Asked by AMV101.

    • Answer Depends on when you ordered the device. According to the best buy site its only available by shipping only, so I doubt there will be in store phones unless you buy one online or go into the store and get it pre-ordered. But the pre-order deadline probably passed by now. I ordered mine on the 10th and they told me it would be available the 24th.
