Phone contracts are "per line", so you will not extend anyone else's contract. However, if you have a really old family plan, you may be required to upgrade to a newer one in order to get a new device activated. It's best to ask a service rep about this beforehand. Even if a plan change is required, usually newer plans are better deals, so it's just a matter of checking into it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have 5 lines on my Verizon plan. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 at bestbuy.com. After answering a few questions about my Verizon account, the order was completed and the phone was shipped. Once I received it, about 3 days later, I activated it on the Verizon network without any issues. My number automatically transferred to the new phone and all my other phones remained the same.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it won't. If you only upgrade your phone, it will only affect you and your account.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. You can get your phone anywhere. I have purchased phones but different places and we were on the same account.

If you are eligible, then it should be a breeze & others on your plan won't be effected. Get the upgrade from best buy by entering the phone number of the phone you wish to upgrade, backup your data through the verizon cloud or whatever method you wish, activate the phone once you get it, it'll show up in your account & your old phone will be deactivated, sync the new phone with the cloud & you're all set. You can have best buy do this if you go to the store or even verizon after you've upgraded through best buy. If your old phone wasn't a smart phone & the new one is, your bill will be definitely be higher. I did this years ago. If you're not eligible for an upgrade, you can still get the phone but you'll have to add another line to do it. That will be an extra 40 to $50 a month & the first bill will be the highest b/c of prorating, adding a line & so forth. This is the route I took a month ago since my mom wanted another phone & she wasn't with verizon. So if you have someone you trust to take over payments & your old phone that you can't sell off yet, go for it. You can switch devices on the verizon page so your old phone number will be switched to the new phone & so forth. You'll be asked to swap sim cards as well. Good luck
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it did not affect the other people on my family plan
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Whoever the account holder is will have to remain with the carrier for two additional years due to you upgrading your line. Other than that I can't think of any other changes.
