You will be able to use your old phone until you activate your new phone when it arrives. There will be instructions on how to activate your new phone. When the new phone is activated, the old phone will deactivate. You can still use wifi for old phones to use apps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You should be able to, however Best Buy completely screwed me over with my IPhone 14 order, deactivating my existing phone (while I was on the line with them, abruptly ending the call) to activate my new phone before it shipped, leaving me without phone service and no ETA or tracking information on when I’d get my new phone. Absolutely do not recommend ordering cell phones from Best Buy tied to an existing phone number.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I too purchased a new phone line through Best Buy to upgrade my existing phone with my existing carrier. I recieved a "may be delayed" email shortly after placing the order. The next day I recieved a call from a friendly Best Buy associate telling me he would have to call AT&T to activate the new phone before I could take delivery. I specifically asked if that would end service on my old phone, I was told no, and that he would call me back. Well, service ended on my existing phone so now I need to pick up the new one. I would have rather been told to complete the process in store since this wasn't a ship to home scenario. If this was not in stock (1 left, and I had to wait for shipping with no cell service, I would be very upset. The take away from this is, if ordering a new phone online, they will need to activate it prior to completing the sale, and when that happens service on the old phone drops off. At least that seems to be true with AT&T as the carrier. I had previously tried to order during the pre-order period through Samsung, they didn't even bother calling me, instead they just canceled the order and had zero information for me. Even though the Best Buy transaction wasn't perfect the customer service was many times better than that from the other company.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I ordered a phone online and was not told it needed to be activated before they would ship it. Two days after I ordered it i was informed there was a delay with shipping, and when I called they said it had to be activated and I'd lose service till it arrived, or i could ask to have it shipped without activating, but they might cancel the order on me themselves but I'd need to wait another week to find that out. I decided to cancel the entire order. A bit disappointed for sure since the phone looked to be a good price.
