It tracks as far as it goes. The farthest i been 100 miles from it. But it only work if there a same brand phone near by with Bluetooth. Bluetooth is the answer. Ex. I have a Samsung phone so any body that close by that has a Samsung phone with their Bluetooth on it will let you know the location of device, if there noone there you will not get a reading. I have them hiding in my vehicle.

It can track anywhere in the world as long as Samsung phones/devices are nearby and opted into the Smartthings Find Network (quite common). You should have no problem with keeping track of your loved one. Make sure to let them know about it since they will be notified that a tag is following them.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Salutations Caregiver, thanks for taking the opportunity to ask us your questions about the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2. The redesigned Galaxy SmartTag2 is made so you can keep calm and keep track. Its design makes it easy for you to tag and carry your belongings. It's also IP67-rated water- and dust-resistant, activates your compatible IoT devices and stays powered for up to 500 days or even up to 40% more on Power Saving Mode. Simply register a new Galaxy SmartTag2 and get started right away with SmartThings Find. With its intuitive tracking experience, you now have a way to keep track of things you love right in the palm of your hand. Switch on Search Nearby and get guided instructions to your item's location via Compass View. If you still don't see it, just ring your Galaxy SmartTag2 to have it send out an audible signal. When Lost Mode is activated, NFC (Near Field Communication) from Galaxy SmartTag2 will display your registered contact information and a message on the finder's smartphone, no matter their OS. This device requires Samsung Galaxy smartphones or tablets running Android 11.0 or later with 3GB or more of free RAM. Also, users must opt in to the SmartThings Find app and be logged in to Samsung Account. It has a Bluetooth range of up to 120m without obstacles. If the Galaxy SmartTag2 is out of range, Galaxy Find Network will be used to track. Hope that helps answer your questions!
