For the first run, it needs to be connected to a Samsung smartphone via Bluetooth. Once that is done, you can disconnect the Bluetooth and use it standalone. For using it on a non Samasung Android phone, search the play store for gear fit software which should do the trick.

You won't get notifications of any items you synced from your phone like texts or emails. If you are using it primarily as an exercise tracker then you do not need to sync it to your phone to see your results as they will appear on the watch face.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unfortunately you need to set up the gear fit using and paired with a Samsung galaxy phone, if you don't have one of these phones the gear fit will be of no use to you.
