Q: QuestionCan the factory hard drive be replaced by an aftermarket SSD. If so, what flavor SATA or PCI-e?

• A:Answer I wouldn't recommend it. This laptop actually comes with an empty SSD slot (M.2 form factor; I don't know if traditional form factors will also fit), so you can install an SSD and keep the factory 1 TB hard drive. Good luck opening it, however, as the case is rimmed with easily-breakable plastic clips.

• A:Answer Probably not but I called Samsung and opening the case will invalidate the warranty. So the first year you need to leave it alone. BTW/my review has not posted.

• A:Answer Top is aluminum. Not sure about the bottom. Solid well built laptop. Still installing and uninstalling software I don't need to see if it will speed up a little.

Q: QuestionMy brand new (7-days old) Samsung Notebook 7 just crashed giving me the blue screen of death error (Window's 10 Version) and the error displayed was "Error: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED" What causes this? Really Frustrating!

• A:Answer All I know is that I removed all the bloat ware before I did the updates. Also removed all anti virus except Defender. Never reboot in the middle of an update. no problems. You may want to download the anniversary update and reinstall.

Q: QuestionIs it best for this specific battery to always be plugged in and charging when at all possible or to fully charge this battery and unplug it and let it get to (or close to) zero and then recharge?

• A:Answer Go into the Samsung settings pinned to your taskbar... you can set it to charge to 85%, then it will stop charging and switch to ac power only. This makes it work like the battery is not in it, so prolongs the battery life and prevents overcharging.

• A:Answer It had an antivirus program which I immediately uninstalled but not as much bloat ware as the HP. Very nice unit. Bought this and the HP on sale at SAMSCLUB last Sat. All come with a trial period of office and antivirus. Never had an issue with a Samsung product and this is my second laptop. Aluminum case BTW and side mounted power button. Quality is first class.

Q: QuestionI really want to add on the SSD M.2 Sata3 memory to speed up my studio software performance. However, I can't find anywhere that is certified to install this part. This was a big selling point. Where am I supposed to get this upgrade done?

• A:Answer It really depends on your level of courage (it IS easy but it takes some basic computer skills). Get yourself a PCIE NVME ssd (it has the single split in the tip of the board). I prefer a Samsung EVO for something like this. 1. ALWAYS backup your computer before doing work like this. 2. Get an anti-static wrist strap. You’ll hear a lot of shade tree computer guys insist they’re unnecessary. I’ve personally seen someone blow a $5k server board from static shock. It happens. 3. Remove all of the screw from the bottom of the laptop and pop off the backing. 4. You’ll immediately see a slot the ssd will fit in (only locks in one way). Replace the backing and screws. 5. Use a flash drive to install Windows 10 (Microsoft has an installer tool that will prepare the flash drive for you) 6. Reinstall Windows to the ssd drive and then put the data on the new drive that you need to get quickly. Use the other drive that’s still in there for media storage. Total time to install the ssd and reinstalling windows shouldn’t take more than 2 hours at worst. Good luck! You’ll be happy you did it on your own:)

Q: QuestionI know this laptop has a M.2 SSD drive slot, but does it support SSD NVMe interface drives? (these drives are the fastest with Up to 3,200 MB/s Read Speed and Up to 1,900 MB/s Write Speed, like the Samsung Pro 960 EVO series.

• A:Answer I have this exact model spin and have upgraded many times now. After extensive research I found that the m.2 slot is meant for a m.2 sata 3 2280 SSD drive. Nvme is useless over this connection being that it is a Sata 3 interface so the transfer speed tops out at what Sata 3 is capable of. However, Sata 3 SSD is still a huge performance upgrade and is definitely worth it.
