Brush and suction just like a vacuum cleaner. Loud if it is on a non-carpeted floor yes.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It works with suction and brush. There's no way to turn the brush off, as far as I know. And it has two suction settings, normal and turbo. Both are quieter than a standard vacuum,in my opinion.

Please try again later.The machine has a brush and, although I haven’t actually felt under the machine while it’s running, I believe it runs by suction also, as I can hear the change in suction quality as it changes from hardwood to carpet mode. It is a tad bit loud, but not any louder than a normal vacuum.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It uses both the brush and suction. Though in our opinion doesn’t suck as much as other brands. the sound is about average as any other machine. We’ve had 2 previously. Sounds about the same.
