A:Answer A tv has a tuner inside of it which gives it the ability to do channels and such where a monitor only takes a video signal from like a computer or whatever and mirrors the signal to the monitor so you can see on the screen. If you want a monitor to act as a TV then you would need to connected to a computer that has a TV tuner card built inside of it then you could use a remote control for that otherwise just go buy a TV
Monitors have a tendency to have a VGA, HDMI, and or DVI connections where as TVs typically have HDMI, Coax for cable, and in some cases component video connections. some TVs will have a VGA connection and if that’s the case then you should be able to to connect a laptop to display onto your television.
lastly most monitors will have a higher level of resolution but in order to get that you have to have a video card from whatever computer laptop or whatever you’re connecting to must have ability to transmit at that level. My advice would be if you really don’t know the answer go buy a TV with a vga/hdmi/coax connection on the back of it and you’ll be fine based on the type of questions you have asked here
