The motion sensor is pretty sensitive. I have only one and it can pick you up from pretty far away. Pets will trigger the motion sensor. I don't have any pets, however, if you position the sensor high enough it might not catch the cats you are concerned about. Also you don't have to use the motion sensor to arm the home. You can use only contact sensors so if a door is opened that is the only time ADT will be alerted. The motion sensor needs to be connected to the hub but not armed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I looked into this in depth, the manual says not to put it somewhere where an animal would climb up near it or in front of it but if an animal under 55lbs is in the room it shouldn't be an issue. I just set one up yesterday and our cats aren't in the house yet so I can't say for sure. ADT has a good history of making pet friendly motion sensors to prevent false alarms, I would believe that it would be okay with this one you just have to clever on where you put it. If you press the button on the side you can put it in a "walk test" mode and test to see what triggers motion so you don't find out after there was a false alarm.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The motion sensor is quite sensitive. Pets will definitely set it off. Sensors on your hub can be disabled if you dont want an area to trigger the alarm
