I found out the manual instructions were incorrect when directing to press the volume button to get id set. It is the mute button, not the volume button, to get the id set display to come up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the real answer for you. I had the same issue "shop 1" instead of "ID SET" . Ok first of all how to set this up: Turn on the surround module and make sure the blue light is flashing. Then turn the sound bar off and hold mute. You have to press mute on your remote for about 30 seconds, not volume down. If you are getting "shop 1" you are pushing volume down. To press mute you have to press straight down on the volume toggle. Then once you see ID SET flash on the sound bar , go to the surround module and hold the ID SET button in back for 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the module should be solid red and solid blue then the red should go off and blue should stay on solid (not blinking). Thats it! The problem is the remote. Mine would not work after trying over and over. I tried online chat and they couldn't tell me what was wrong. I finally called in and got someone who knew right away. The mute function on these remotes do not work well. I got lucky and after an hour of trying, held the button down and wiggled it around and it flashed ID SET for 1 second and i was in business. Samsung is also sending me a new remote for free under warranty. I was told by the head BEST BUY Geek that these were not compatible. Not true ! I even got mine at a discount because everyone at the store believed this , there loss my gain, And I will say that the directions suck! P>S> Most of the answers on here are bogus. It doesn't matter if the TV is plugged in or on or anything like that. Dont try to update firmware, it wont work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Fixed the problem with help from another forum. Turns out when inserting the wires into the speakers, you can't just insert it all the way. You have to make sure the exposed metal makes contact with the metal part of the clamp. I had the wires inserted too far and the clamps were on the plastic part of the wires. Wish this was in the setup instructions!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hey everyone I figured out the shop1 thing .. so I have the hw-m4500 and my control does not have mute so I decided to use the tv remote and I pressed mute for 5 seconds and it showed the set id thing and my subwoofer paired ... Try it out
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same problem after following the steps that the manual gave and being frustrated I was about to put it back in the box and send it back to Amazon. Then I decided to try one more thing. I close everything and then plugged in the hdmi cord into the tv arc in the back of the tv. Turned the tv and the bar off then followed the instructions. I pressed and held down the volume button for 5 seconds the D.IN showed up on the bar the blue light stopped blinking and I was in business. You need to play action movies to really appreciate the sound out of the rear speakers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have also purchased this SWA-8500S as an open box and waited for 2 months prior to installing it. I had to call Samsung to assist me and we was not able to pair this unit to the sound bar HW-M550. Because I waited for over 2 months I will have to send the speakers to Samsung. I am having not a wonderful time with Samsung and it has taken me 4 days to be able to send the speakers in for repair. The had me test the sound bar as well and have asked me to send this unit in as well. The speaker system was an open box, which I will never do again and this unit does not have a model or serial number on the unit just on the box. Supposedly this speaker was tested but I do not know, what a pain.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Same issue and continued to try it...eventually got what was needes to come up...think i pressed volume up for longer than 6 seconds
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I read an answer below (or above) that helped me. My problem was that I couldn't get the sound bar to display ID SET. I tried it a hundred times, for six seconds and up to 60 seconds. Finally I noticed someone say that the "mute" on the remotes (pushing IN not up or down) is not good on the Samsung remotes. They got another remote and it worked immediately. Well, we have a second Samsung sound bar (on another TV); I used that remote, pushing IN on the volume button (IN for mute). I held it 6 seconds and ID SET appeared. All the rest of the instructions were correct. For me, the problem was a bad remote.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Here is the one of the best work around!! This works for both SWA-8500s and SWA-9000s Rear Speaker kit with HW-M4500 curved sound bar!! I am using HW-M4500 curved sound bar. I followed the user manual like every one but didn't help. Later I found this thread and Mozel's answer found interesting but still it didn't work for me. Here is what you should follow... Step-1: Turn ON the Sound bar module and make sure that D.IN is displayed then turn ON Rear Speaker kit receiver and make sure the blue light is flashing. Step-2: Now turn ON camera app in your mobile phone and set for front camera mode. Step-3: Now turn OFF the Sound bar and on your remote control press VOL button straight down and point it to your front facing camera from a distance of 2 feet. Make sure that the remote control LED flashes continuously (see image). Continue this for about 30 seconds. (If you are getting "shop 1" on your sound bar means you are pushing VOL button downwards. Instead press VOL button press straight down like using for MUTE function). Step-4: "ID SET" message will flash on the sound bar , Now go to the Rear Speaker kit receiver and hold the ID SET button in back for 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the receiver module should be solid red and solid blue then the red should go off and blue should blink. Step-5: Turn ON the Sound bar module, the blue LED on receiver will stay on solid (not blinking). Thats it!! With this is I paired both SWA-8500s and SWA-9000s Rear Speaker kit to my HW-M4500 curved sound bar!!
