Brandings & speed. Ultra is more HD & slower read/write speed than Extreme. Extreme is more 4K/HD & faster read/write speed, more expensive. I use ultra in my S8 because I don't need very fast speed but I do use extreme in my 4K camcorder.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The ultra sandisks write at 80 MB/s as the extremes are 90 - 120 MB/s. The faster speeds are needed for the capability of higher resolutions at higher frames per second.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Extreme class cards can write faster and are meant more for professional or demanding tasks, like 4k. Ultra's are more consumer grade and are meant for things like mid/low-end digital cameras, tablets, etc. Keep in mind that the rating on the front of the card is the read speed. Write speed in most cases will be at least 20% less and in some more extreme cases 1/2 as fast. I would get the Extreme's over the Ultras for the similar/same price. I think the Extreme's are also more robust as well. (The Extreme PRO cards are the high-end, high-endurance cards.)
