Please be informed that USB 3.1 Gen 2 is the USB Interface that this SSD Drive is optimized for and Type-A/ Type-C are the USB connector types that this SSD Drive can be connected through in a compatible device/ computer. Also, please note that this SSD Drive is backward compatible with USB 2.0/ USB 3.0 ports, however, you may not get the optimized higher data transfer speeds.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Short answer: Yes it will work with older USB technology. SanDisk specifically indicates backward compatibility in the product description. The fancy letters and numbers are just nomenclature for newer and Faster data transfer rates. I am using it on a windows 10 workstation, a win 10 notebook and a windows 7 pro desktop. (My win 7 machine is supported by 3rd party support.)
