- Answer Hi Mike, please be informed that the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSDs have transfer speeds of upto 550MB/s and the SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSDs have transfer speeds of upto 1050MB/s. Also, please be informed that the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSDs have a 3-Year Limited warranty whereas the SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSDs have a 5-Year Limited Warranty.

QuestionCan this device be password protected? I'm only interested in answers from people who actually have one and have password protected it.

- Answer Yes but not the drive it self their is a vault program that everything goes into that is password protected. The software can be upgraded for better encryption as well. Keep in mind that moving stuff into the vault is very slow, I hope this helps. Kevin

- Answer It’s a Solid State Drive (SSD), there are no moving parts. I will say that it does have lightning fast read and write speeds. Backed up about 700gigs in about 20 mins.

QuestionCan this be swapped back and forth between PC and Mac, to transfer files from one to another? Or does it need to be formatted specifically for one or the other like most hard drives? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am not a tech person.

- Answer Yes, it can be used to transfer files between Mac and PC. I don’t remember the out of box format, but from Mac’s disk utilities format as FAT. I have used it this way.

- Answer Please allow us to inform you that SecureAccess is an optional preloaded encryption application which helps you to password protect the data on the drive. It is not mandatory to use the application you can delete the SecureAccess files from the drive and use the drive as a plug and play device.

However, please note that if these consoles allow playing games that are installed on an externally connected disk drive, then you should be able to play games on your PS5/ XBOX using this SSD Drive. - Answer VERY MINIMAL. THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHAT IS USED IN NEWER VERY THEN COMPUTERS. IT USES DIRECT ADDRESSING. OLDER UNITS SPIN THE DRIVE TO READ AND WRITE THE DATA THUS USING MORE ENERGY. IT IS ALSO MUCH FASTER, SMALER, AND LESS LIKELY TO FAIL. HOPE THIS HELPS

- Answer I do not recall the original formatting. However, I plugged it into a USB port on my 27" Mac with OS Catalina, and it immediately backed up my data with Time Machine. Later, when I shifted to OS Big Sur, it continued to function flawlessly.
