• Yes, this device is compatible with the newer macOS Big Sur. It is formatted to work for cross-platform storage Mac and Windows and there is no need to reformat. Hope this helps.

• Yes, it's compatible with Mac and Big Sur OS. I'm using the drive with the latest MacBook Pro and latest iMac so I reformatted the drive to the APFS file system which offers some advantages over other formats.
