I am using the 1TB EXTREME PORTABLE SSD in my macOS Big Sur in my iMac, in my iPad, in my Samsung Note phone, and my Surface Pro alternately with no problem. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it is not. After a while, my files disappear or it says that my SanDisk Portable (2TB) has no files and 0KB data on it. Only with Big Sur! Seems to be an Apple problem. Very annoying.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the Sandisk is compatible with macOS Big Sur. Make sure it is the 1050kbs upload speeds because it is ridiculously fast, less than 7min-10mins with the first backup (however if you have large media files it may vary). It is already formatted to work for cross-platform storage to read Mac and Windows files. Their encryption software is embedded within the device for download if you choose to utilize the extra security, but completely optional and functional without it. I originally bought the Samsung T5 then switch to the T7 for the finger security feature and had high hopes after reading all the positive reviews. Apparently, I missed the memo that Samsung SSDs and their encryption software were not compatible to MacOS Big Sur. Sadly, they were returned. Overall, the Sandisk is an A++. I appreciate and love the simplistic, rugged and weightless design. There is no need to buy a case with this one. Hope this helps.

However, please note that you might not get optimal data transfer speeds when connected to a USB interface older than USB 3.1 Gen 2.
